Los Pollitos III- Unmatched Mexican Cuisine in Clinton Hill

Los Pollitos III is located at 499 Myrtle Avenue and is one of five Mexican and Latin restaurants owned by Los Pollitos Group.  These people have worked out all kinks and serve Mexican cuisine to die for. My wife and I decided to try this spot out and were blown away by the taste.

Being a fan of fried calamari, we tried out the Mexicana version that was on special. It was lightly breaded with a hint of citrus and came with a tomato based dipping sauce that had some heat. Tender, springy and delicious. The first part of the meal was going great so far. There is also a drink special from 1pm- 6pm. Sangria, Beer, Cosmos, Margaritas, and Mojitos for only $4.50. Needless to say, we took advantage of that.

The place was not crowded for the time we had dinner. You would expect more people around 6pm, but the lack of folks defintely wasn't indicative of a negative vote on the food. Nothing could be further from the truth.

My wife had the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, served with rice and black beans(left).  I had the pernil (pulled pork) burrito with the black beans, sour cream, and guacamole served on top rather than inside the flour tortilla. Both our dishes were amazing. First time digging into the mole sauce, a sweet, smoky flavor. The burrito was excellent and the side salad of lettuce and pickled red onion was fantastic.  Sorry no room for dessert. Service was good. Because few people were in the restaurant the atmosphere was a little non existant.

Overall a great dining experience. I would definitely go back especially for the happy 5 hours special. If you drop by, order me a frozen margarita and let them know that HistoricBrooklyn.com sent you. HB
