Lunch time at Sushi D along Dekalb's Restaurant Row

Taking a leisurely stroll along Dekalb, I decided to pop in to Sushi D. It is located at 207 Dekalb Avenue on the corner of Adelphi Street. Having the option of both indoor and outdoor seating, we took a table indoors and was greeted with wet napkins for our hands and a basket of Eda Mame. The picture below is taken after we ate a few. I didn't get the idea to write a review on this place until I had a mouth filled with steamed soy beans. That was followed by a double order of Gyoza, pan fried pork and vegetable dumplings. My son was a huge fan of the dumpling appetizer. Sushi D actually rigs chopsticks for children that makes it easy for them to use, so they aren't left out from the Japanese dining experience. The Gyoza was full of flavor, tender inside with a crispy flour wrapping.

We ordered 2 rolls. One was spicy tuna with the tuna being on the outside of the roll and the other was their take on a traditional California roll. Strips of imitation crab meat served with a spicy mayonaisse on top of a roll filled with crab and avocado. It was great. For a local sushi restaurant the quality was excellent, the food was fresh, and the service was fair. Overall a great pick.  Not to say you'll turn down a dinner at Sushi Yasuda for Sushi D, but they hold their own pretty well.

Sushi D is a great local restaurant that brings the taste from the Land of the Rising Sun to Dekalb Avenue. No reservations or passport necessary. So when you're in the neighborhod drop by and order me some Gyoza and tell them HistoricBrooklyn.com sent you. You will not be dissapointed. HB
